Problems i am foreseeing

The first problem i have this week is mainly Tara, as she is not here this week and decisions need to be make with her being here, largely the people who will star in the video, i need to have a big planning session with her and while she is not here, i am having to guess of what we have.

The second problem that might occur during the filming is the availability of the junction. as other people want too use the stage. So we will have to plan the Gig scenes really well to nail it in a few takes to minimize the time we need it for, as we need to whole area to be empty.

More problems might occur as we are planning. well, as I am planning.

Feeders Music Video

Now i have pitched my own music video, i had look at what they came up with:



their idea at the start matches mine, backwards because that's what it sounds like

They also did a sort of performance, but it looks like in front of green screen. which doesn't really match what i did because we wanted to make it look like a gig with nobody there.

The narrative is just him walking, which i personally think that this doesn't really show anything, but that's my personal opinion

Feedback

 The Main piece of feedback we received was about the actual band, they first thought that maybe feeder were too well known for us to do their music, but we established that even though they are well known, most people in the class could not pick them out of a line up.

Pete thought that my idea to reverse the footage to fit to the style of effect at the start of the track may be a bit to amateuristic and could be seen as us running out of footage so we decided to reverse some of it to take up more time. maybe another effect could be implemented.

One final thing was maybe the track is a tad too long and could be seen as boring, but We will decide what to do once we get there to plan.

The main idea for the video is 

Well the Start of the video is the whole video sped up into 9 seconds and in reverse, to start the track. it starts with the band at either the junction or some other location, Maybe even outside somewhere, but the Limitations of that would be that we could not get a drum kit outside.

There will be a few shots of members of the band either looking at photos or just showing them to the camera, which will then zoom in of random clips involving different band members with it fading out to static.

to maybe enhance the fact of being alone, they will seem like they are at a gig, with all the lights and stuff, but there are "crowd" shots which shows that the whole place is empty, like nobody showed up, like the concept of being alone.

The Main location for this will be at the junction, this will be for the Gig shots during the video

We will also be using some other locations but we have not picked anymore yet, these will be for the memories part of the song.

We have a group of people that are ready to be filmed. These are Tara's friends and i can't remember who they are.

We will need like guitars and a drum kit for the scenes at the junction, it needs to look like a real gig.

More ideas for the music video

If we end up using the junction, I was thinking of shots Behind the band playing, Showing the "floor" empty. this will help enhance the song epecially when it says the lyrics "How will you feel when there's no one".



Another idea from a music video i saw a few weeks ago but now ive forgotten what it was is having people (possibly people from the band) hold up photos, it then zooms into the photos to another clip of somthing, Like capturing part of this persons life, this will tie in well going with the lyrics of "Feeling the moment slip away", maybe the clip starts playing and it fades out, or TV static comes in like on a worn out Video quite quickly so you can't see the footage, so it will be like its slipping out of their memory.

Idea for the start of the song

Well i was thinking for the start of the video, the music sounds like its backwards, so i thought about reversing the whole music video and speeding it up, so it fits into that few seconds then it slows down, till the music starts,

Maybe not even the whole video, just the starting part, just showing everything backwards and fast till it slows down to a stop and then it starts with the music. That will be the first 9 seconds of the song. We would have to do this effect RIGHT at the end so we have the whole footage in place.

Practice video on Final Cut for Pitch

Here is the practice video which Tara and I did to the song 'Feeder - Feeling a moment'. We used pictures from facebook and the song we would like to use and tried to match them up to the pictures. 

They were only various images and it was just a practice to help with the pitch on Monday, it was just a quick session so therefore will help us in terms of the song. In the actual video, we'll have shots of the band too so obviously its not just pictures, hopefully it will be effective.

planning

In the music video project, I am up to doing the specific planning for the music video, with quite a clear idea and people to represent the band. 

I still need location shots of the junction and to clearly explain to the main singer in the band what he needs to do, and I still need to find a guitarist and drummer for the band, but it is possible that the main singer can play guitar too - I have a few people potentially who can do this. 

We also need to shoot the video, and have a rough cut by a certain date. We need a shot to shot list which will help us, and need to create a presentable and effective music video with our ideas.

Here I will write a music video pitch for my video, with the ideas I like and hope to create etc.

'Indie style video with all the characteristics, possible venue at junction with clear establishing shots, long shots, mid close ups and extreme close ups to create a sense of loss. The songs lyrics 'Feeling a moment slip away' are relevant, video will have a band performing hopefully on a stage but the main singer will be the main attraction. Perhaps some shots of a couple or significant moments in the singer's life in which he remembers - these could then fade away with transitions and could be symbolic in this way. It will have shots of the band, instruments, and will perhaps show a slight story although not a very prominent one. Camera pans around the band and location from various angles and will all help to create a sense of loss and slight loneliness. Video will promote the band and their new upcoming video.'

Effects we like

During this music video, we came across an effect that we like. when it attempts to fade between two shots, it hold both of them for a while, they overlapped each other in a kind of fade out style, like below.

For the music video project i have decided to work with Tara, she already has a music track in mind and this is it, its called Feeling the moment

Random Music Video

I found this music video by searching randomly for student ones, and i decided to review it.

First off they chose quite a good song, not that well known but catchy, i have never heard it before.

The first thing i noticed about the editing was they used split screens to show that they are entering different rooms, i found this quite effective and knew instantly what these meant.

The only thing i noticed that was wrong with this video is that either the actors were not very confident. or that they didn't know the words that well because they kept missing a few words while miming or they kept smiling.

The thing to improve is to try to learn the song a lot more or find more confident people.
